Toptal PDF Remediation Tool

The Toptal Accessibility Portal is an automated platform designed to process and remediate PDF documents to help meet accessibility standards.

What Toptal will do:

  • OCR (optical character recognition) on images of text from scanned documents using Adobe Acrobat APIs.
  • Auto-tags a PDF using Adobe Acrobat APIs.
  • Uses AI to add or replace existing alternative text on images (toggle option to turn on/off depending on whether or not your document already has alt-text).
  • Provides a compliance report and progress analytics for each remediated file.

What Toptal will NOT do:

  • Check/remediate color contrast.
  • Remediate reading order.
  • Does not add form fields to PDF forms.

Setting Expectations:

  • Toptal PDF Remediation tool will do better on some documents than others.
  • Color contrast and reading order require manual checks.
  • Results may vary depending in part on the quality of the PDF, particularly for scanned documents.
  • Remediated documents should always be reviewed.
  • Further remediations may be necessary to make the document accessible.
