Changing employers while 24-month application is pending with USCIS:

The CISP International Team highly discourages changing employers while a STEM OPT application is pending with USCIS as this change can disrupt the application process that can cause delays with the decision. However, if the change of employers is inevitable CISP advises students to follow these steps:

1. Update new employment information using the STEM OPT Employment Reporting form in CISP TD Portal.
2. Upload the following document to the form:
   • New completed Form I-983 Complete a
   • Final self-evaluation signed by the previous employer on Form I-983, if you worked with the previous employer during STEM Extension period (submit the form within 10 days of leaving the position)
3. Incomplete applications will be rejected

CHANGING EMPLOYERS after 24-MONTH APPLICATION IS approved by USCIS:

1. Update new employment information using the STEM OPT Employment Reporting form in CISP TD Portal.
2. Upload the following documents to the form:
   • New completed Form I-983 with new employer
   • Complete a final self-evaluation signed by the previous employer on Form I-983 and upload it to the form within 10 days of leaving the position  
3. Incomplete applications will be rejected
