Preparing to Register

To register for courses, you will need the following:

  • CSU ID Number
  • CampusNet Password
  • Online Registration Appointment
  • Advising Appointment

CSU ID Number

Your CSU ID number is a 7-digit identification number assigned by the University. All students are assigned a CSU number upon completion of their application and will receive notification by mail. If you do not know your CSU ID number contact the IS&T help desk at (216) 687-5050 or visit Campus411 All-in-1.

CampusNet Password

New students should have received an email with instructions on how to obtain a CampusNet password. This is the password that you use to log into the CampusNet pages. You can use those pages to view personal information, grades and transcripts, and to add and/or drop classes from your registration schedule. If you do not know this password, call the IS&T help desk at (216) 687-5050.

Advising and Registration for Classes

Academic Advising at Cleveland State University is designed to provide on-going support to all undergraduate students to help ensure academic success and graduation. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor as soon as possible after admission and orientation, and on a regular basis after that, to discuss registering for classes and to gain an awareness of the various avenues of support available to students at CSU. Advisor assignments and contact information can be found in your Starfish network, also accessible via the Student tab in CampusNet, or contact your advising office to schedule an advising appointment. Click here for a further information on accessing advising resources, including a list of all undergraduate advising offices.

Add/Drop/Withdrawal Information

Add/Late Add

Adding classes can be done through CampusNet through the first week of the term. See the academic calendar for the exact dates for each academic term. All subsequent adding must be done with the appropriate late add form and must have confirmation of payment from the Bursar's Office. Please follow all directions and deadlines stated on the appropriate late add form.

Drop/Withdrawal

Dropping/withdrawing from classes can be done via CampusNet through the established deadline reflected in the academic calendar. Non-attendance does NOT constitute an official withdrawal from classes. Questions regarding the refund schedule for classes can be directed to the Bursar's Office at (216) 687-5249.

Medical Withdrawal

Students seeking a medical withdrawal from the University are strongly encouraged to consult with their college advising office before making any registration changes. Once they have withdrawn from classes, students need to consult with the Bursar's Office.

Military Withdrawal

Students who are called to active military duty have two options for their class work. Students may:

  1. Withdraw ("W") from ALL courses with a full refund of all tuition and fees; or
  2. Take an Incomplete ("I") for ALL courses with the understanding that the "I" would be extended until the student has had an opportunity to finish class requirements following their return to school after the completion of active duty status.

Affected students need to present an official copy of the military orders to the Office of the University Registrar at Campus411 All-in-1 at the Berkman Hall Building, Room 116 and to their instructors. The Office of the University Registrar will provide copies of the orders to the Bursar's Office and Financial Aid Office. All questions about financial aid implications can be directed to the Financial Aid Office at (216) 687-5411.
