Dragon Naturally Speaking is a speech recognition application that runs on Windows. It is by far the best in the business. Cleveland State has some Licenses which we have for issuing Dragon to students registered with the office of Disability Services to assist with the provision of accommodations.

The installation files for this application are very large. The download linked from this page is over 4 gigabytes. It will take a significant amount of time to download the entire application. Below are the directions for the installation of this application. These directions need to be followed precisely for the application to work.

This installation will also force restart your computer. Please save any files and close applications before installing Dragon.

Installation Directions

  1. Download the Dragon 15 Installation files
  2. When the download completes open the folder where it saved, likely your Downloads Folder
  3. Right click on the Dragon15Install.zip file
  4. Click Extract Files
  5. When the dialog comes up to extract, click on the Browse button to change the file path
  6. Choose Windows (c as the location to extract to and Click Select Folder
  7. Click Extract
  8. If asked for permission to write to the C: folder click Continue with Administrator Rights
  9. When the extract is finished it should open up a C drive where you will see a folder Dragon15Install and double click on that folder
  10. Right click on the Dragon15.cmd file. This is a Command prompt script.
  11. Click on Run as Administrator
  12. Click Yes to allow the file to open with admin rights
  13. When the installation completes it will automatically restart the computer
  14. When you log back into your computer you will have the Dragon icon on your Desktop

Logging into Dragon

This installation requires a login for Dragon that is provided by Disability Services. This was likely sent to you by Jeffrey Dell, the Assistive Technology Specialist, before you installed this application. Students are only eligible to use this product when enrolled at Cleveland State and while actively registered with the Office of Disability Services. As soon as your enrollment ends and your registration expires your permissions to use the product are revoked and you will no longer be able to use the product. At this time please uninstall the application from your computer.
