DBT is a program that we use for Braille Translation. There is not much need for other departments to use DBT. It is mainly here because It is a network Install that we will make available to anyone who needs it on campus.

Install Braille Embosser

If someone is using DBT they will need a braille mbosser to send the Braille documents to. It should also be installed before installing DBT. The Braille embosser we use is the Juliet 120 by Enabling Technologies. This embosser is located in RT103 in the Assistive Technology Lab's Embosser Closet. Access is restricted to that location. Below are directions for installing the print drivers.

It will ask if you want to allow this driver to install. It's safe go ahead and click next and Install until it is finished.
  1. Install the Driver Enabling Driver
  2. Open Devices and Printers either from the Start Menu or the Control Panel
  3. Click Add a Printer which might be under the file menu depending on your version of Windows
  4. Click Add a Network Wireless or Bluetooth Printer
  5. Click the Printer I want isn't listed
  6. Click the radio buttton for Add a printer by TCP/IP address or host name and click Next
  7. Click TCP/IP device and enter \\137.148.114.59 in the address field and click Next
  8. Make sure Generic Network card is selected and click Next
  9. Click Have Disk
  10. Click Browse
  11. Browse to the C drive then Program Files then Index Braille then Braille Printer Driver and finally indexdrv-nobidi.inf and Click Open
  12. Click OK
  13. Click ETC Juliet 120 from the list and click Next
  14. Click Do not Share this printer and click Next
  15. Click Finish without printing a test page.

Installing DBT

This MSI has all the settings that you will need for configuring the software and activation.
  1. Click DBT 12.7 SR2 Installation and run the file (This is a file share through OneDrive and likely would require login)
  2. Click Next, Accept and Next, Next, Complete and Next, and then Install
  3. Click Yes to permit installation
  4. Click Finish

The first time the program is launched it will ask the user to install several scrips and templates used in Braille translation.

Configuring the Juliet Embosser

The Embosser Settings should install with DBT but if they do not do the following.

  1. Open DBT
  2. Go to the Global menu
  3. Open Embosser Setup
  4. Click on New
  5. Choose Enabling Juliet 120 from the list of Embosser Models
  6. Give it a name like Juliet 120
  7. under Output Option choose Send to Printer
  8. In the dropdown list of printers choose ETC Juliet 120
  9. Click OK
  10. Set Form to 11.5 by 11 inches
  11. Set Characters per Line to 42
  12. Set Lines per Page to 25
  13. Set Top Margin in Lines to 1
  14. Set Binding Margin in Characters to 2
  15. Click OK

Problems with Running DBT

If your install of DBT stops working it may be because we recently moved to a differetn server. It can also be caused by updating the version of the program on our Server. Try reinstalling the program using the directions above.
