Commencement Exceptions

In order to participate in the commencement ceremony, a student must have completed or be currently attending all courses necessary to satisfy degree requirements.  If you finish your requirements during Summer semester or Fall semester, you are eligible to participate in the December commencement ceremony. Students finishing in the Spring semester are eligible to participate in the May commencement ceremony only.

Graduate Students must complete the Graduation Commencement Exception student survey in Starfish. Students can contact the College of Graduate Studies for further instructions.

Undergraduate students may seek an exception to this rule by submitting your request using our Commencement Exception online form

Any exception must be approved by the Dean of the College in which the student intends to graduate.

Prior to submitting a Commencement Exception request, you must have a graduation application on file. Please note that not all requests are approved. Students may be asked to provide supporting documentation to back up their claim.

Please understand if you attend another ceremony other than your scheduled commencement, your name will NOT appear in the Commencement booklet.
