PARKING ON CAMPUS – UPDATE

The University and its neighborhood are growing and changing! You can see it all around us. To the west, the new Arts Campus has opened in Playhouse Square. To the north, the future North Campus Village is now under construction.

We understand these changes have impacted the daily routine of many students, faculty and staff. A familiar parking spot may no longer be available. The walk to class may be longer. We recognize that changes aren’t easy and that winter weather makes it worse.

We are investigating some new transportation and parking options. While we do that, we offer the following:

TRY SOMETHING NEW!

  • Park at the South Garage for $1 per hour and a maximum of $3 per day.*
  • Ride the free E-Line Shuttle. You can travel between the Student Center, East 18th Street, the new Arts Campus and the South Garage between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Use your UPass to commute on campus. Convenient campus stops on Euclid Avenue at East 13th Street [Arts Campus], East 19th Street [core campus], East 24th Street [Julka Hall and residence halls] and at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Transit Center [near the South Garage].
  • Check out the following CSU parking locations: Lot AA [Cole Center], Lot HH and M [Payne Avenue], and Lot KK [Viking Hall] are open to all prepaid parking hangtag holders.
  • Look at the off-campus options in the neighborhood – one of these may work for you!
    * Special Event parking is exempt from this special rate. This special rate is in effect for a limited time only. Click on the South Garage web page for full information about the operations of this garage.

Please read the Parking Updates that are posted weekly to the Campus Mailbag, check the Parking website or "friend" CSU on Facebook for the most up-to-date information about traffic, parking and construction on campus.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES:

  1. Lot S-3 - construction fencing surrounds much of S-3 and the remaining spaces are accessible ONLY from Payne Court and require a CSU Prepaid parking hangtag.
  2. Lot S-2 - construction fencing surrounds much of S-2 and the remaining spaces are accessible ONLY from Payne Court and require a CSU Prepaid parking hangtag.
  3. Lot J is CLOSED
  4. Lot S-1 - the section of S-1 south of the entrance on E. 23rd will be blocked from all traffic in preparation for installation of construction fencing within a week of the start of Spring semester. S-1 and Lot 55 have been merged to create a single entrance for both lots from E. 24th
  5. Traffic patterns and navigation in the area will be changing dynamically during the next few months including the closing of 22nd and 23rd Streets between Chester Ave. and Payne Court scheduled for February 9th.
  6. Prepaid hangtag holders can park in the South Garage with a swipe of a valid Viking Card or in Lot AA at E. 30th and Euclid next to the Cole Building.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Cleveland State University (CSU) Parking & Transportation Services Department strives to meet the parking, transportation, and related accessibility needs of the CSU campus by providing, planning, transportation demand management, and operational services with the goal of customer satisfaction while fulfilling the financial expectations of the University for its performance. To this end, Parking & Transportation Services employs a team of experienced professionals and student employees who work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other campus patrons to manage and operate the parking system, facilitate participation in the Regional Transit Authority and to provide information for students, faculty, and staff as they traverse to, from, and on campus.

SAFETY AND SECURITY AT CSU:

  • PUT YOUR JUNK IN YOUR TRUNK
  • Protect yourself from car break-ins. Get in the habit of putting anything of any value in the trunk of your car. Don’t leave items (even spare change and GPS devices) in plain view.

For a safety escort to and from your destination as well as motorist assistance, dial 216.687.2020 from your cell phone or 2020 from a campus phone. Both services are available to CSU students, faculty and staff as well as visitors to campus.
