If you are a CSU faculty, staff or student with CampusNet access, you can purchase and register for most parking permit hangtags on your CampusNet account.

Mission Statement

The Cleveland State University (CSU) Parking Services Department strives to meet the parking, transportation, and related accessibility needs of the CSU campus by providing, planning, management, and operational services with the goal of customer satisfaction while fulfilling the financial expectations of the University for its performance. To this end, Parking Services employs a team of experienced professionals and student employees who work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other campus patrons to manage and operate the parking system, facilitate participation in the Regional Transit Authority; and to provide information for students, faculty, and staff as they traverse to, from, and on campus.

Notice Regarding Change In Parking Citation Fine Rates

On November 10, 2009, the CSU Board of Trustees approved an increase in fines for Parking Rule Citations. The increase in fines rates is effective for February 1, 2010. Please see the fine chart below.

APPEAL PROCESS

Any individual who wishes to appeal a citation without payment must submit a Parking Appeal Form or letter to the Parking Services office within seven calendar days. Appeal forms are available in the Parking Services office and on the department’s website. Appeals received after the seven calendar days require payment of fine in order to consider the appeal.

The Director of Parking Services reviews all appeals. The Director has the authority to act upon an appeal based upon the written statements submitted or to refer the appeal to the Parking Appeals Committee. A decision is issued within 30 calendar days of the receipt of the appeal. The decision is sent via electronic mail to the email address provided on the appeal form. ANNOUNCEMENTS:

South Garage is Open to All CSU Prepaid Parking Permit Holders

The CSU South Garage is open to all CSU Prepaid Parking Permit holders for daily use parking. An active, valid Viking Card is required to enter and exit the garage. Possession of a hang tag alone will not provide access. Prepaid Parking Permit holders may park in the facility during the operating hours of 6 AM to midnight 7 days per week (with the exception of Special Event days). Viking Cards are activated for the South Garage at the time the Prepaid tag is purchased. No special request for access to the South Garage is required.

The new facility is different from existing CSU parking garages in a few ways:

• Viking Cards are required for automated access by prepaid permit holders. Your valid Viking Card will activate the gate arm upon entrance and exit.
• The garage will be attended only on Special Event days.
• The garage features green technology with solar panels installed to produce about 10% of the projected power needs of the garage.
• For Visitors and Must Pay tag holders, the parking fee is $1 per hour (or fraction thereof) with daily maximum of $6. The fee is paid to automated equipment upon exit. Cash, credit and bank debit cards are accepted.

The following are specific instructions for prepaid CSU permit holders -- SWIPE IN. SWIPE OUT!

1. Do not take a ticket to enter the facility. Instead, swipe your Viking Card in the card reader (black box) with the magnetic stripe facing up (as pictured on the reader). Cardholders are required to swipe upon entrance and again upon exiting.
2. It may take a moment for the gate to open after your Viking Card has been swiped in the card reader
3. 24 Hour Exit: Cardholders may exit the facility after hours by swiping in the 24 hour exit lane. This lane is on the East 21st side of the garage (southbound only) and is the right most lane closest to the garage lobby.Both the parking gate and security gate raise once swiped.The gates close once the vehicle
has exited.
4. If your valid Viking Card does not work at the card reader, proceed to an alternate parking facility for the day and contact Parking Services immediately.

Pedestrians may enter the facility after hours only through the lobby doors at the northwest corner of the garage. The CSU Must Pay parking program is not supported at the South Garage. Must Pay tag holders will be charged the Visitor rate.

Other points of interest:

CSU Parking Services now offers a CSU Cultural Events Parking Coupon. Created as a means to promote cultural events on campus, this prepaid coupon program reflects a $2 discount per park off regular CSU event parking rates. A booklet of 5 coupons is valid for five separate parks at CSU cultural events. The coupons are available to all guests and visitors who wish to attend scheduled cultural events on campus. A coupon booklet sells for $20 and can be ordered by calling CSU Parking Services at 216.687.2023.

• CSU Prepaid hangtag holders may park in Playhouse Square Garage at no additional cost to the hangtag holder. This offer is limited to Monday through Friday and is subject space availability. The entrance to the Playhouse Square Garage is located on Chester Avenue at East 15th Street.
• For escort service to and from your destination as well as motorist assistance, dial 216.687.2020 from your cell phone or 2020 from a campus phone. Both services are available to CSU students, faculty and staff as well as visitors to campus.
