March 13, 2020 9:19 PM

Network Drives:
IS&T has restored network drive access on Vikes, Lanyard and others. If you have issues connecting back to your network drives, please try rebooting your machine. If your issues persist, please call the IS&T Help Desk at x5050. Be ready to provide us your IP address, server name, and shared drive you are trying to connect to.

Authentication Update:
Authentication into select applications are updated including Office365 Email, Blackboard, ServiceNow, and most recently, Zoom. You will be required, moving forward, to sign in using your 7-digit CSUID number (CSUID@csuohio.edu) as your username along with your current password.

Reminder:
Please change your password through CampusNet and ensure both AMP and Umbrella software are installed on your computer. For more detail on how to do that, please click on the link to access previous IS&T communications https://www.csuohio.edu/ist/service-disruption.

Background:

Beginning the evening of March 4th, CSU began experiencing issues with campus systems and servers that IS&T are continuing to work through. Updates will be provided  as more information becomes available and posted to https://www.csuohio.edu/ist/service-disruption.

CampusNet, Blackboard and Webmail are, and have largely remained, available and data on the centrally managed file systems has remained intact.

IS&T Actions:

IS&T pushed out AMP and Umbrella to all Windows computers on the domain. To know if you received these critical software updates please look for two icons in your icon bar on the bottom right corner of your screen. These new software packages will help protect your workstation and the campus network from future issues.

Actions by you:

Ensure the above AMP and Umbrella software icons are showing on the bar at the bottom right corner of your screen. If you do not have both of them, reboot your computer and if you still don't see the icons, please call the IS&T Help Desk at x5050 .

Reset your password by visiting the CampusNet Password Reset Page. Remember to update the new password on your mobile devices eg. cell phone, ipads etc.

Backup your data to OneDrive except for files with (.ryk) extension.

Once you have AMP and Umbrella installed and you have changed your password,  you are able to resume your normal job functions. This includes accessing Peoplesoft, 3rd party vendor sites, hosted solutions, etc.

As always, please be extra cautious about clicking on unusual links or opening unusual attachments on your computer and always make sure you are logging into a legitimate CSU site when asked to enter your username and password.

Access to share drives update:

We continue to work towards restoring access to the shared drives. We understand the urgency and will keep you updated.

Future Actions:

IS&T will need to reimage Windows computers the campus building-by-building. We will not be able to backup data during the reimaging process so any files stored locally to the hard drive will be lost. Therefore, you will need to save your files by backing them up to OneDrive. We will publish a timetable once one has been developed.

We appreciate your patience as we work towards a resolution.

March 6, 2020 3:00 pm

We are currently experiencing system issues that continue to have broad impact across campus. These issues in particular are affecting Windows computers. The main campus file share systems, such as Vikes and Lanyard, have been disabled to protect campus data. Core campus systems such as PeopleSoft, CampusNet, Blackboard and Email do not appear to be impacted by these issues.   At this time, IS&T is recommending the following actions:

  • Ensure your computer is turned on and connected to the network so that all updates can be applied to your computer

  • Ensure that your important files are backed up to cloud services, such as OneDrive

  • If you have a local backup hard drive of your system, we recommend you disconnect it from your computer at this time.

We will provide further updates as they become available.
