Community Standards & Advocacy

Services

Mediation Services:

Students are always encouraged to settle disagreements through constructive dialogue and honest conversation. Mediation services are provided to support the efforts of individuals to informally resolve conflicts before they are referred to the formal conduct system. The office also provides training in alternative dispute resolution and conflict management.

Student Advocacy:

Community Standards serves as a conduit for student advocacy when students need information on how to address a specific issue or concern unrelated to the conduct process. By fostering an environment for dialogue, the office serves as an information source and liaison between the student and other campus entities including the Ombudsperson, Counseling, and CARE.

Referral Services:

We want students to feel well supported and well-informed. This office has established relationships with various departments throughout campus as it coordinates interventions for addressing student behavior. Often, referrals are made to other offices which could better address the needs of a particular student or situation. These referrals are done in collaboration with students and other departments for a seamless and supportive hand-off.
