As a member of the Cleveland State University (CSU) community, we care about your experience. We also recognize that not everyone has a positive experience everyday at CSU. The mission of the Office of Community Standards and Advocacy is to promote a campus culture of safety, respect, accountability, and belonging. We do this by:
- Educating the CSU community on the rights and responsibilities under the CSU Student Code of Conduct
- Promoting equity throughout the conduct process
- Guiding students through the process of filing a complaint
- Assisting students in applying their due process rights and utilizing appeal procedures
- Connecting students to appropriate on and off campus resources in order to support their overall wellness
- Offering mediation services between individuals or groups
- Answering questions related to the Student Code of Conduct and other relevant policies and procedures
- Fostering critical thinking skills
- Engaging in dialogue around the process, incorporating CSU community feedback
- Adjudicating cases in an effort to repair harm and prevent harm from reoccurring
- Applying principals of restorative justice to ensure every member of our CSU community feels welcomed and valued
