How to Access Copilot Chat

1. Go to portal.office.com
2. Sign in with your university credentials (MFA required)
3. Click Copilot Chat in the left navigation or open in Teams
4. Start your secure AI session

Dos and Don’ts

Do:

• Use Copilot for summarizing documents and drafting ideas
• Verify outputs for accuracy and bias
• Limit sensitive data even within licensed tools (if the sensitive data doesn't add value to the output, leave it out)
• Contact IS&T if you have any concerns regarding data security

Don’t:

• Enter personal or confidential data into public AI tools
• Assume AI-generated content is final—human review is mandatory
• Share outputs without proper attribution
• Enter information into public prompts that you wouldn't post on social media
• Assume anonymizing data is enough

Risks of Public AI Tools

• IP Exposure: Proprietary research can be compromised
• Data Leakage: Your input may be stored and shared
• Compliance Risks: No FERPA/GDPR protection
• Accuracy Issues: Higher chance of bias and misinformation
