Our Work

Center members spearhead research and engagement activities, including:  

• Federal Funding: Coordinating proposals for projects that drive planning and implementation of digital innovation to make communities and neighborhoods stronger. 
• Community Engagement: Working alongside community leaders to deploy Smart and Sensible Technologies in two communities to help meet community aspirations.  
• Public Interest Technology: Attracting faculty to new projects and proposals in the field of Public Interest Technology, enhancing the critical mass of researchers and educators in this subject. 
• Curriculum Development: Contributing to the development of a Public Interest Technology curriculum at CSU to prepare future leaders of the public and nonprofit sectors to thrive in a technology-infused world.

A core objective of CSU T.E.C.H. Hub is to foster research, which is well aligned with CSU's strategic priority to seek distinction as a leading public urban research institution. Since 2017, CSU has seen much IoT related activity across campus that has been internally funded, IOTC funded, and independently pursued by faculty.  Faculty members have developed more than 50 IoT-related proposals and secured more than $2.2 million to date. This is expected to increase in the coming years with the addition of new faculty across campus who have received start-up packages funded by the IoT Collaborative.  Through collective efforts in the start-up phase, more than 15 CSU faculty members have received support to nurture their research, increase publications, and set the stage for follow-on funding.
