Community Engagement and Public Service
Faculty and staff associated with the CSU T.E.C.H. Hub are actively engaged in public service and community outreach in their professional capacity as faculty and as representatives of the CSU T.E.C.H. Hub and the IoT Collaborative. Most visible among these are convenings of key community and industry stakeholders – Public Sector (Dr. Nicholas Zingale), Higher Education Institutions (co-convened by Dr. Nigamanth Sridhar), and Economic Development Intermediaries (co-convened by Shilpa Kedar). Brian Ray hosts the annual Cyber-Security/Privacy conference at CSU. Additionally, faculty and staff are visible in leadership roles on many of the key initiatives in the community - City of Cleveland’s 21st Century City conference, the Blackland Solutions conference, Team NEO Smart Manufacturing Cluster, the CSforALL partnership with CMSD, and the Cleveland Rising summit.
The demo projects of the IoT Collaborative are significant community outreach and engagement efforts. The project in the Hough neighborhood is increasingly gaining prominence and visibility because of the creation of the Innovation District in MidTown, anchored by the Cleveland Foundation’s planned office building.
