KeyBank Scholars Program

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I have to graduate from a high school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in order to participate in the KeyBank Scholars Program?

Yes. The KeyBank Scholars Program has been implemented as an initiative to increase the retention and on-time graduation rate of students who graduated from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, therefore ONLY students who graduated from a CMSD high school may participate.

How could the KeyBank Scholars Program benefit me as a first year college student at Cleveland State University?

The KeyBank Scholars Program benefits first year students by welcoming them to a community that will provide the support necessary for students to stay on track for graduation. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credits early by participating in a summer program called the Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP). By participating in STEP, KeyBank Scholars Program participants could qualify for a book scholarship. Additionally, participants in the KeyBank Scholars Program will receive year round advising, and social and academic resources that will promote the development of academic, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Could I participate in the KeyBank Scholars Program if I graduated from a CMSD high school, but this is not my first year of college at Cleveland State University? What if I transferred from another institution?

All CMSD students enrolled at Cleveland State University can receive the supportive resources the KeyBank Scholars Program has to offer, BUT only new incoming first year students are able to register for the summer program and have the opportunity to qualify for the book scholarship.
