How Do You Do It? Building Information Literacy into Your Course
Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2016
Time: 11:30 – 12:30 pm
Where: RT 401
Audience: All CSU faculty, lecturers, part-time faculty, teaching assistants, and doctoral students are welcome.
The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) states that information literacy is a core set of “essential learning outcomes” for the 21st century. Employers rank information literacy as one of the most desired competencies for their employees. Despite the obvious importance of these essential outcomes, serious discussions about the most effective ways to help students develop the necessary knowledge practices and dispositions needed to master these skills rarely occur on campuses. Join us at this workshop and get the conversation started at CSU.
Workshop participants will deepen their understanding of information literacy, make connections between course outcomes and information literacy outcomes, learn best practices for integrating information literacy into the curriculum and explore assessment methods that can be easily adapted to a variety of courses.
Faculty who are teaching or considering teaching a general education course that designates information literacy as a learning objective as well as faculty interested in learning more about integrating information literacy into their courses are encouraged to attend.
Please join Ann Marie Smeraldi, Head, Library Teaching and Learning Services Michael Schwartz Library, will lead the workshop.
