College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) offers over 26 undergraduate majors and 9 graduate programs led by distinguished faculty, scholars, scientists, artists, and performers who are closely connected to our urban community.

An array of unique engaged learning opportunities are available within the College. Students engage in in-depth, thought-provoking discussions on a variety of topics with their classmates and receive hands-on instruction from our award winning faculty. Real world experience outside of the classroom can be obtained through internships at local world-class organizations and companies like The Cleveland Museum of Art, PlayhouseSquare, the Cleveland Clinic and more.

Our Fine Arts Campus in Playhouse Square — the second largest performing arts district in the United States — houses the theatre, dance, and art programs.  This unique opportunity provides arts-oriented students with a hands-on learning experience alongside working professionals.

Our students acquire essential skills in leadership, analysis, communication, problem-solving and creativity while following their passions and studying the subjects that most engage their interests and talents.

Committed to providing engaged learning both on and off campus, the College enhances the student’s experience through small classroom settings, exciting community based internships, experiential learning opportunities, international study abroad programs, numerous scholarship awards, and more than 20 liberal arts and social science related student clubs and organizations.
