Counseling Center and CASC Services

CSUCC and CASC do not conduct evaluations regarding emotional support animals. We maintain a list of community providers who are able to do so. Please email counselingcenter@csuohio.edu to receive the most current list.

To ensure the confidentiality of our clients, CSUCC and CASC do not allow students who are not trainees at our center to observe individual or group therapy activities. If you need to observe a group for a class requirement, you might consider finding an open AA or NA group to attend instead.

Per Ohio law, students aged 14 or older can receive treatment (excluding medication) without parental consent for up to 6 sessions or 30 days, whichever comes first. After that, we would need signed consent from a guardian to continue services. 

Yes. Records at CSUCC and CASC are protected under the Treatment Records provisions of FERPA. We are also held to high confidentiality standards by State of Ohio Law and our ethical boards. 

Under State of Ohio Law, there are times in which we might be required to break confidentiality. These situations include, but are not limited to, imminent suicidal risk, mandatory child abuse reporting, duty to warn, mandatory elder abuse reporting, and mandatory animal abuse reporting (for some licenses). We may also be required to release information based on a court order or homeland security order.

If you have questions about confidentiality, your counselor would be happy to discuss them with you. 

Yes, our individual therapy, group therapy, and case management services are free. There is a small fee for psychiatry services. 

Thank you for your interest in this topic! Given our other responsibilities, CSUCC and CASC staff do not respond to interview requests for student classroom assignments. We will consider requests for interviews for student-led publications or professional media. However, these requests must come through CSU’s Marketing and Communications team. No, CSUCC and CASC are not able to provide cognitive assessment. However, we maintain a list of community providers who offer assessment. Please email us at counselingcenter@csuohio.edu for our current list. We are able to provide consultation on whether we would recommend pursuing ADHD assessment. And, we are able to provide therapy focused on treating ADHD symptoms.
