Thank you for showing interest in Cleveland State University! My name is Alyssa, and I am an admissions counselor for Cincinnati, Dayton and Lorain county. I am so glad you are considering CSU, the heart of Cleveland! Here at CSU we want our students to learn inside the classroom, but also outside the classroom, which is done through our engaged learning method. We partner with the Cleveland Clinic – a world renowned hospital – or if you are interested in the arts, we are next door to one of the best performing arts districts in the world. On the weekends, our students can enjoy one of our three professional sport teams, take a walk through our nationally ranked metro parks or check out some of our museums like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. With one of the lowest tuition rates in Ohio, we have several renewable scholarships to offer our students to make college more affordable! Remember to go on a campus visit so you too can experience our diverse academic community! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

What’s your favorite spot on the CSU campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus has to be the Student Center! It is the perfect place to hang out between classes, learn about new organizations at tabling and the best part...that is where the food is! Also, you can grab some great CSU swag there!

If you had your own Magnus outfit, where would you wear it?
Every year I attend a national bigfoot conference with my friend and her family. I would for sure bring the Magnus outfit to the bigfoot convention so Magnus and bigfoot can have a face off.

What advice do you have for students who are choosing a college?
Choose the college that you believe feels right, go with your gut and chase your dreams! If you are unsure about what to study, that is completely okay! Take a couple general courses, see what you are interested in and claim a college by your sophomore year. 50% of students change their major (I am apart of that 50%) and that is okay too! College is the time to discover who you are as a person and set forth future goals!

What’s your favorite CSU tradition?
Spirit Week! It is a week of fun filled activities put on for our students. There’s free food, dance parties and a concert at our Wolstein Center.

What’s your favorite CSU fun fact?
CSU law school was one of the first to admit women and minorities. It is a fun fact about our campus history that I love to highlight during presentations!
