Unity Graduation Draws More than 350

More than 350 people attended the Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement's annual Unity Graduation Celebration of Student Success on May 12 at the Wolstein Center.

May 2016 graduates were invited to bring their friends and family for an intimate ceremony to thank them for their support in reaching graduation. The graduates were invited to walk down a red carpet to receive a traditional Unity Kente cloth stole to wear at graduation. 

"The Kente stole we present to students is a fusion of the colors represented on the stoles of various cultural groups," said Charleyse Pratt, Assistant Vice President of Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement. "We hope it helps students at graduation have their own sense of identity and pride."

The Unity celebration has come to be a popular event on campus, drawing more and more interest each year.

"We hope the event gives students a more private and intimate setting to celebrate their academic successes with those who have been their supporters, whether they are friends, family, professors or others in the CSU community," Pratt said.
