Sullivan-Deckard Scholars Program Welcomes Second Cohort

SD2.pngNow in its second year, the Sullivan-Deckard Scholars program at Cleveland State University welcomes eight new students to campus who are tranisitioning out of the foster care system to college life.

The new Sullivan-Deckard Scholars come from six school districts in Cuyahoga, Lake, Lucas and Summit counties. They arrived on campus on June 20 and have been keeping busy in summer sessions aimed at helping them transition to college life.

The Sullivan-Deckard Scholars will participate in a second summer session that involves participation in two courses for credit in a Learning Community.

"This process yielded great results for the inaugural cohort in building skills and essential study skills and should prepare the new scholars for a successful first-year experience," said Charleyse Pratt, Assistant Vice President for Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement. "The new Sullivan-Deckard Scholars cohort is doing a great job on taking in their new environment and show a great desire to maxmize their educational experience."
