Nov. 8 Election Day Info For Students

The Office of Civic Engagement at Cleveland State University encourages students to register to vote and make their voices heard in the Nov. 8, 2016 election. Below is some important information to remember ahead of Election Day.

Voter Registration Ends October 11

The last day to register to vote in the November 8 election in Ohio is October 11. Here are some steps to make sure you’re ready to vote.

• Are you registered to vote? Click here to see if you’re registered to vote on the Ohio Secretary of State website.
• If you’re not registered to vote, complete the simple registration form online to get started. Cuyahoga County voters can also fill out a form in the Office of Civic Engagement in the Administration Building Room 104, across from Elements Bistro.
• Students can also fill out a form at the Student Government Association voter registration drive on October 10, 2016 in the Student Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Early Voting Begins October 12

Once you are registered to vote, you can take advantage of early voting at your County Board of Elections. For Cuyahoga County residents, you can walk the short distance from Cleveland State University to the Board of Elections office at 2925 Euclid Ave.

Things to Remember If You’re Voting on Election Day, November 8

If you plan to head to the polls, make sure to arrive early at your polling place. To locate your polling place, visit the Ohio Secretary of State website. Using your name and county, locate your voting record. Click on your hyperlinked name to see your polling location.

Hours for voting on Election Day are the same statewide: 6:30 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m.

Be sure to bring proper identification. Student IDs are not a permissible form of ID. Here is a list of proper forms of ID:

• An unexpired Ohio driver’s license or ID
• Military ID
• Current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or government check that includes your name and address
• Your CSU enrollment verification, which can be obtained from Campus 411 in Main Classroom
