CSU Students Discuss Food Issues at May 5th Town Hall

IMG_2231.jpgHeinen's Co-CEO Jeff Heinen addresed students at a May 5th Town Hall in Cleveland State University's Student Center, speaking about his store's business model, food deserts and supporting the local economy.

The town hall was part of the Public Sphere Pedagogy initiative at CSU, which is rooted in the belief that students learn best through experience, where the student plays an active role in his or her education. Students in Professor Ed Horowitz's Communications class were also able to interact with Heinen, asking questions on and off stage.

After Heinen's speech, students presented their research on food topics such as the impact of local urban gardens and food deserts.
