2025 Division of Student Belonging and Success Awards

We're celebrating our Cleveland State students, faculty and staff, as well as local community members who make a difference at our University and within our region during the Division of Student Belonging and Success Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony!

Join us on Thursday, April 23 in the Glasscock Family Foundation Ballroom (Student Center Third Floor)

Nominations for the following categories are being accepted online until April 4:

CARE Champion Award - Students, faculty and staff - The CARE Champion Award is presented to an individual dedicated to supporting CSU students, who is an incredible advocate, goes above and beyond to connect students to resources and demonstrates a selfless commitment to providing care. It is awarded annually to one student, one faculty member and one staff member.

Campus Champion Award - This award is given to a faculty or staff member who is a leader within the campus community, exemplifies strong advocacy efforts, is dedicated to providing support to students and goes above and beyond to connect students to resources.

Diane Dillard Student Organization of the Year - This award recognizes a deserving student organization that has made outstanding contributions to the university community and exemplified excellence in campus engagement. The winning organization will have hosted quality programming during the 2024-2025 academic year, maintained active participation among its members, focused on organizational management and be a currently registered student organization.

EmpowHERed LeadHERship Award - The EmpowHERed LeadHERship awards recognize the outstanding mentorship, support, advice-giving, and uplifting spirit of CSU community members. Recipients will be known for going above and beyond to assist others, leading by example, seeking opportunities to share knowledge and experiences, and enriching our campus community with positivity. One undergraduate student, one graduate student, and one faculty/staff person will be recognized annually.

Excellence in Programming Award - This award recognizes an individual, office, student organization, or group for its exceptional creativity, planning and execution of a University program. The winning program should appeal to a broad cross-section of the campus community, have been original and have positively impacted campus life.

Graduate Student of the Year - This award is given to a graduate student who demonstrates academic achievement, strong leadership skills and has made significant contributions to the the CSU community.

Health and Wellness Champion Award - Presented to an individual who is dedicated to providing support to CSU students and demonstrates a selfless commitment to service in the area of health and eellness. One student and one faculty/staff member are honored each year.

Jillian Keller Student Services Award - Named after the CSU staff member who started a food pantry on a shelf in her office, this award is given to a faculty or staff member who is dedicated to supporting CSU students through initiatives such as basic needs access, volunteer service, philanthropy or dedicated time to LUV!

Outstanding Student Leader Award - This award recognizes a deserving undergraduate student who exemplifies student leadership, has worked to advance key initiatives and programming, serves as a role model within the CSU community, and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to creating a positive campus culture.

Peggy Kirschner Outstanding Student Leader Award - This award recognizes a deserving undergraduate student who exhibits outstanding and ethical leadership, demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the University, and makes unselfish contributions to CSU. The recipient must have provided unpaid service to the University and Greater Cleveland and be a junior or senior.

Proudest Viking Award - This award is given to a student who has made significant contributions to the university community through involvement in campus life, academic achievement, leadership, and community service.

Social Justice Award - This award will recognize a CSU student, faculty member and staff member who have championed justice efforts at CSU and within the City of Cleveland. Recipients should have demonstrated leadership and implemented programs and services that have improved the human condition.

Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award - This award is presented to an advisor who has significantly impacted the growth and development of student leaders, served as a mentor to students, and provided steadfast support for organizational activities and achievements during the past year.

Student Service Award - This award recognizes a deserving undergraduate student who is dedicated to supporting students and/or student-serving offices on campus. The recipient exhibits an ongoing commitment to creating a positive campus environment.

Lift Up the Mission Award: Students, Faculty and Staff - This award is given to a student who is dedicated to supporting CSU students through efforts such as assisting with basic needs, volunteer service, philanthropy, or dedicated time to LUV!

Undergraduate Student of the Year Award - This award is given to an undergraduate student who demonstrates academic achievement, strong leadership skills, and has made significant contributions to the university community.
