There are two main types of faculty at CSU; full-time faculty and part-time faculty.  Below are the hiring processes for both types of faculty.  

Full-Time Faculty Hiring Process

Full-time faculty consist of tenure track positions, college lecturers, professors of practice, clinical faculty and visitors.  Full-time faculty are hired for the academic year and are eligible for full-time benefits. 

Part-Time Faculty Hiring Process

Part-time faculty are part-time single term instructors who are hired on an as needed basis, semester by semester and are not eligible for University benefits.  Part-time single term instructors shall not have teaching responsibilities exceeding nine credit hours per semester, and no other responsibilities such as to accrue to full-time faculty.
