Free to anyone unemployed and only $39 for all others
Cleveland State University’s Division of Continuing Education will help job seekers understand thehigh-tech job search world through a new half-day workshop, Internet Job Search Skills and Techniques, offered on two different dates – October 22 and November 4 – at CSU’s Cole Center for Continuing Education, 3100 Chester Avenue, Cleveland.
Thanks to a generous donation, the workshop is free to anyone unemployed and only $39 for all others. This hands-on course will help job seekers get on track quickly and allow them to see how the Internet has become a key means of finding employment.
The October 22 workshop runs from 5:30-9 p.m., and the November 4 workshop runs from 1-4:30 p.m.
Job seekers who haven’t looked for work recently find that times have changed. To find a job in today’s world, people need to be savvy Internet users. The Internet has evolved into a very important tool both for job seekers and companies who are recruiting employees. Companies can access much information about a candidate through sources such as Facebook or LinkedIn, or electronically search an individual’s profile for specific job qualifications.
“We know that new technologies are a powerful part of the job search process, if you know how to use them. We are very pleased to offer this free opportunity that will help unemployed persons learn new skills,” says Dr. Barbara Hanniford, Dean of Continuing Education at Cleveland State.
Workshop participants will learn to research job postings online, post resumes online, create a text document for completing online applications, create a job search database, and assess the credibility of job boards. They’ll discover social networking “dos” and “don’ts” and many other tips for finding the right job online, and will leave with a list of useful resources and links to assist them in their job search.
