U-Pass
The RTA U-Pass is available for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters for eligible students. The U-Pass allows CSU students to ride free of charge on all Greater Cleveland RTA buses and rapid trains during all academic semester. The University administers the U-Pass program based on the agreement between CSU and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
The U-Pass program is currently only available to full-time, registered credit students at CSU.*
Fall 2025 U-Passes are available for pick up through Parking & Transportation Services as follows:
From Aug. 20 - Sept. 5, U-Passes can be picked up at the U-Pass table in the Student Center from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday (excluding Labor Day), on the second floor near the Innerlink to Berkman Hall.
Beginning Sept. 8, U-Passes can be picked up from the Parking and Transportation Services office (BH115) Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.
Eligible students should be registered in CampusNet for fall classes and bring a valid Viking ID.
*Eligibility
- You must be a student enrolled full-time at CSU. The University considers a student enrolled full-time with 12 credits as an undergraduate, 9 credits as a graduate student, or 12 credits as a Law student.
- Part-time students are not eligible to participate in the U-Pass program.
- For non-eligible students, please speak with your academic coach of the Division of Student Belonging and Success for assistance in exploring transit options that work for you.
Benefits to the Students
- The program reduces transportation costs for our students by saving on gas and other vehicle-related expenses.
- The U-Pass provides easier access to our campus.
- CSU students can use the public transportation at any time during the fall/spring semester. You can use RTA transit to travel on all routes anytime throughout Cuyahoga County, including downtown, to the airport, to a ball game, etc. Your utilization of the U-Pass program is not limited to only University-related activities.
- RTA availability provides a back-up mode of transportation for our students (i.e. car troubles, poor weather).
- Students can utilize RTA for travel to internships and off-site practicum sites associated with their on-campus learning experiences.
To plan your trip or learn about RTA services, please visit their website at www.riderta.com or call the RTA at 216-621-9500.
