WHO MUST REPORT AT CSU?

As a part of the University community, everyone should make ending discrimination and sexual violence a priority. Some individuals at the University have, however, a specific responsibility to report to the Office for Protected Rights behavior that may be discriminatory or harassing, or which could be a form of sexual violence. These University employees are considered “Responsible Employees” and include academic advisers, administrators, athletic coaches, GAs, professors and resident advisors are required to report to OPR.  If you confide in a Responsible Employee, that person must notify OPR and may reveal details about the information you shared.

WHAT IS A CONFIDENTIAL RESOURCE?

A “Confidential Resource” provides a safe space to discuss options and learn about resources before deciding on next steps. When you confide in a Confidential Resource, the information you share is not considered a report of discrimination, harassment or sexual violence, and, unless you take some other action, will not be shared with OPR or result in action by the University to resolve the concern. Unless there is imminent risk of serious harm, a Confidential Resource will not share information you provide without your consent.

1. Just ask! Responsible Employees are trained to identify their responsibilities and tell you if they are required to report.
