Academic Vision

Every undergraduate student at CSU will have the opportunity to complete a degree program with a work-based or experiential learning pathway.

Core Functions

• Experiential learning: Expands and aligns internships, co-ops, residencies and applied learning opportunities across all undergraduate academic programs and ensures equitable student access.
• Career development and exploration: Integrates robust advising and tools for students and alumni to navigate career pathways and develop career skills.
• Employer and industry engagement: Serves as a primary point of contact for organizations to connect with CSU talent, expertise and partnership opportunities.
• Continuing and professional education: Extends lifelong learning opportunities to individuals and organizations, including learners who may not be enrolled as degree-seeking CSU students.

Outcomes

• Universal access to work-integrated learning: Every CSU undergraduate will have the option to pursue a structured work-integrated learning component in all academic programs aligned with curricular learning outcomes.
• Improved student career readiness: Students in all academic programs will gain access to meaningful, supported work-based experiences that increase career clarity, confidence and post-graduation success.
• Stronger employer and community partnerships: CSU will deepen and expand partnerships with employers, nonprofits and public agencies, resulting in higher quality academic programs, higher employer satisfaction, sustained engagement and a stronger regional talent pipeline aligned with workforce priorities.
