TEDxClevelandStateUniversity Speaker Profile: Charlie Mosbrook

As TEDxClevelandStateUniversity approaches, we'll profile each speaker who will take the stage at the event.

Meet Charlie Mosbrook.

Mosbrook is an award-winning songwriter, educator and folk music advocate whose career spans performance, community leadership and arts education. He began as a street musician in Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin, before returning to Cleveland, where he became a fixture in the Great Lakes folk scene. His 1997 performance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum established him as a respected interpreter of Woody Guthrie's music, leading to workshops and performances nationwide. 

After sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2010, Mosbrook rebuilt his career, earning national recognition on folk radio across the U.S. and Canada. He serves as program and education director for Roots of American Music and is vice president of the Folk Alliance International Board of Directors. A recipient of the Folk Alliance Region Midwest Lantern Bearer Award, Mosbrook continues to perform nationwide while championing music education, accessibility and the power of folk music to build community.

The topic of his talk is History Brought to Life with Song.
