TAG Alignment

The Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) program was designed by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to guarantee students the ability to transfer applicable credits across Ohio public colleges and universities.

The program identifies a set of courses typically common to various degree programs and outlines content requirement for those courses.

Cleveland State University complies with the TAG requirements by ensuring that we accept any TAG course from another Ohio public college or university and by aligning relevant courses taught at CSU with the TAG requirements.

The information below is provided to assist faculty in aligning their relevant courses and submitting the appropriate paperwork to our ODHE Coordinator for submission to ODHE.

  1. Visit the TAG Course Descriptions page and locate the TAG course(s) you have been asked to align to. Most likely, you received a spreadsheet indicating the CSU course and the relevant TAG course (listed as a prefix and number such as "OAH 001").
  2. Download both the "Submission Template for Course Equivalency Management System" and "Course Equivalency Management System Course Details Form" documents.
  3. Review the Submission Template document and revise your course as necessary to align with the requirements. As you do so, complete the document to identify compliance.
    1. Note: Some TAG courses distinguish between essential learning outcomes (marked with an asterisk [*]) that must be met, and optional learning outcomes that need not be met. Be sure each essential learning outcome is clearly met.
  4. Revise your Syllabus and assignment documents to reflect any changes made. All claims made in the Submission Template document need to be evidenced in the syllabus and/or a sample assignment.
  5. Complete the Course Details Form.
    1. For "Beginning Term", mark Fall 2026 if you made substantial revisions to the course to comply with the TAG requirements. Otherwise, indicate (to the best of your knowledge) when the course in its current form was first taught.
  6. Submit all the following, as separate documents, to Patricia Lyons, CSU ODHE Coordinator:
    1. Completed Submission Template document
    2. Completed Course Details Form
    3. Course Syllabus
    4. Sample Assignments: You should include at least one sample assignment relevant to each TAG learning outcome the course is aligned to.
