The Faculty Senate shall have the duties and responsibilities to:

1. Initiate educational and academic policies of the University.
2. Adopt rules to effectuate the educational and academic policies of the University.
3. Bring up for consideration proposals on matters pertaining to the general welfare of the University.
4. Make recommendations to the Administration relative to buildings, budget priorities, and new proposals and developments.
5. Act upon all matters of routine faculty business in pursuance of already established University policies.
6. Elect members to the Equal Opportunity Hearing Panel.

• Faculty Senate Meeting May 6, 2026 — Meeting Materials and Join via Zoom information will be posted prior to the meeting.   
   
• At the April 15 Academic Steering Committee meeting, faculty members will be appointed to Faculty Senate standing committees and other University committee assignments. In addition, the committee will select slates of candidates for positions that require election.
  In order to be considered, please complete the Committee Service Preference survey by Tuesday, March 31 at 11:59 p.m.
   
• At the May 6, 2026 Faculty Senate meeting, faculty members who have passed on will be recognized in a memorial tribute.  If you would like to submit information on a faculty member, please use this faculty memorial tribute form.
