Cleveland State's smart manufacturing micro-credentials have CESMII endorsement. To receive the CESMII Endorsed label, education programs are reviewed against the SM education guidelines developed by the CESMII network of SM educators for the SM skills listed on their website to ensure that the education program is teaching skills that enable Industry 4 interoperability, scalability, analytical and orchestration capabilities that build on top of Industry 3 capabilities.

Industry 4.0 is the next wave of manufacturing that employs computer-integrated manufacturing, high levels of adaptability and rapid design changes, digital information technology, and more flexible technical workforce training. Manufacturers worldwide are looking for ways to build a sustainable competitive advantage, and many of them are looking to modern technologies to enable these transitions.

Micro-credentials at CSU: A micro-credential is a short-form, affordable workforce development program designed to supply working individuals with proficiency in new skills. At Cleveland State, micro-credentials require a competency-based exam at the end of each program to earn a certificate of completion that shows expertise. All micro-credentials are non-credit.
