Sophomore/Junior Work and School Survey

The University, in conjunction with the Student Government Association, is conducting this survey with a goal of better understanding how students’ academic success is affected by financial obligations and family responsibilities.  Many Cleveland State University students must pay for a substantial share of their expenses themselves while enrolled as full- or part-time students.  We want to better understand what students are facing.  Most of you are successfully managing your myriad obligations.  We want your suggestions on what we as a university can do to help.  We also want to be able to share strategies that you have used for success with students who may be facing the same challenges. 

SURVEY PARTIPANTS

Survey participants are principally sophomores and juniors at Cleveland State. 

TAKING THE SURVEY

This survey asks questions about your work and family responsibilities as they relate to your experience as a student.  Filling out the survey takes less than 15 minutes. Your participation is completely voluntary.  Declining participation will not result in any penalty or loss of benefits.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The university will make every effort to keep your responses confidential, although absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.  No information associated with your name will ever be released publicly, but personally identifiable information may be inspected by university and governmental officials when required by law.

LOTTERY FOR PARTICIPANTS

In appreciation for participating, we will enter all sophomore and junior students who complete the survey by December 20, 2015 into a drawing for the following prizes contributed by SGA and several university units:

• Student Government Association: five $250 scholarships,
• President and Financial Aid Offices:  ten $50 bookstore gift certificates,
• Dining Services -  two [2] gift cards with $50 in Dining Dollars on each gift card,
• Parking & Transportation Services – one [1] spring 2015 green semester hangtag
• Viking Outfitters – three [3] gift certificates with each for a CSU sweatshirt with style predetermined by the store –  [S to XL size for each prize can be determined based upon the winner]

Approximately 4,400 students have been invited to participate in the survey.
