The first step in getting connected to the Counseling Center is typically to complete a screening over the phone. A referral screening is a 25-minute conversation with a counselor where we can learn about your main concerns and connect you to the best supports. This could be group therapy, individual therapy, campus resources, a referral to an off-campus provider, etc.

To get scheduled for a referral screening you can walk in (UN220), call (216-687-2277), or click this button to schedule online:

How to contact us:

To find out more about the services offered by the Counseling Center please contact us at 216-687-2277. You will be scheduled for a 40-minute referral phone screening with a counselor within 2 business days. The screening counselor will help connect you to one of our coping skills or therapy groups, see if individual therapy or psychiatry is needed, and offer other helpful resources.

Crisis sessions are available from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.  At these times, you should be able to talk with a counselor shortly after you call or walk in. If you are in crisis outside these times, but within 9 a.m.–5 p.m., please be in touch and we will work to get the first counselor available to meet with you. Outside of business hours, call us to connect with a phone counselor.

The Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services Incorporated (IACS), and our Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology is Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association.
