Meet the Board
As Past President Vicki Plata mentioned in the September 2022 issue of the RFPSA Newsletter, our organization is now affiliated with CSU’s Office of Alumni Relations & Corporate Engagement. Think of it as RFPSA version 2.0 – now known as CSU Retirees Association.
Lloyd Snyder is now President of the organization, Vicki Plata remains as a member of the Board in the role of Immediate Past President, and Ed Thomas continues in the appointed position of Communications Coordinator. These three officers have been working on behalf of the Executive Board to implement the work of the CSU Retirees Association, and they also acted to fill Board positions for 2022-2023.
Based on the responses to the call for volunteers to run for offices, the CSU Retirees Association Executive Board announces the following list of new officers and appointees:
Executive Board Positions
Vice President/President Elect: David M. Larson
David Larson is the retired Chairperson and Associate Professor Emeritus of the Department of English, and he has served the past few years as one of RFPSA’s representatives to Faculty Senate and to the Ohio Council of Higher Education Retirees (OCHER).
Secretary/Treasurer: Michael V. Wells
Michael Wells is a Professor Emeritus form the Department of Urban Studies. He served as RFPSA President in 2013-2014 and as Representative to Faculty Senate from 2019-2021.
Appointed Positions
In addition to the Executive Board positions, there are a number of appointed positions. The Executive Committee has filled these positions as follows:
Representatives to Faculty Senate: Kimberly A. Neuendorf (two-year term) and Catherine A. Hansman (one-year term)
Kimberley Neuendorf retired in 2022 from her position as Professor in the School of Communication. During her CSU career, she served two stints as a member of Faculty Senate.
Catherine Hansman retired in 2021 from her position as Professor in the Department of Counseling, Administration, Supervision & Adult Learning. She served on Faculty Senate for more than half of her 23 years at CSU.
Representatives to the Ohio Council of Higher Education Retirees: Michael Dover, Jeremy Genovese, and Rodger Govea.
Michael Dover retired in 2021 as an Associate College Lecturer Emeritus in the School of Social Work. He was a full-time faculty member for 14 years. Previously, he served for four years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Social Work at Central Michigan University.
Jeremy Genovese retired in 2019 from his position as Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Foundations. During his CSU career, he was a member of Faculty Senate, and was active with the CSU chapter of AAUP, serving as Grievance Officer, Secretary, and President.
Rodger Govea is an Associate Professor Emeritus from the Department of Political Science. He too was active with the CSU chapter of AAUP. He has served as an RFPSA Representative to OCHER since 2019.
What Happens Now?
The new Executive Board members and the appointees to Faculty Senate and OCHER have taken their positions and will serve for the remainder of 2002-2003. In the meantime, the Executive Board has been meeting to plan programs for the spring semester and to deal with other issues necessary for the full implementation of the CSU Retirees
