Message From Chief Beverly Pettrey

Chief Pettrey

It is an honor and privilege to serve as Chief of Police for Cleveland State University. With close to twenty years of service, and a proud alum of Cleveland State University, I have a heart-felt vested interest in the safety and well-being of the campus community.

The officers and staff of the Cleveland State University Police Department work diligently to keep Cleveland State University a safe community for all. We provide 24-hour law enforcement services to all persons living, working, or visiting our campus.

In addition to traditional police and security responsibilities, officers engage in a wide variety of community policing activities to engage and partner with our community. I invite you to familiarize yourself with the many programs and resources we offer.

To continue to build upon police-community relationships, we established a therapy dog program in 2022. This program offers crisis intervention support and positive community-engagement, such as providing comfort and companionship to survivors and those with disabilities and mental illness.

The safety and quality of life of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is our top priority. It is an honor to work with the extremely professional and dedicated team of sworn, civilian, and student staff. These dedicated individuals are committed to the consistent delivery of reliable safety services.
