CSU Student of Distinction: Abhi Siri

Although Commencement has passed, CSU continues to celebrate graduating students who have overcome obstacles, made significant achievements or are fulfilling Cleveland State University’s mission in or outside the classroom.

Today, we celebrate Abhi Siri ’26, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. 

CSU: Have you had any significant internships/co-ops/careers while at CSU?

AS: As a CSU student, I've had the opportunity to intern at The J.M. Smucker Co., KeyBank and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Each role has been an incredible learning experience that has fostered my personal and professional growth while allowing me to make meaningful contributions.

Reflecting on each internship, I am deeply grateful to the phenomenal individuals I've met and supported along the way. After each internship concluded, I returned to Cleveland State with new skills and experiences that have helped me thrive as a student, leader and aspiring security professional.

CSU: How would you describe the connections you have made with the faculty and staff at CSU?

AS: As the coordinator of the Engineering Peer Teachers (EPT) program at the Washkewicz College of Engineering, I've had the opportunity to collaborate extensively with faculty, staff and administrators. By providing supplementary recitations for rigorous engineering classes, I've worked directly with administrators and faculty to curate material and ensure student success.

One close connection I've made is with Assistant Dean Courtney Nudell, whom I've worked with for the last year. In her role, just one of many, as director of the EPT program, her guidance, dedication and unwavering commitment to student success are second to none. Despite a mind-boggling workload, Assistant Dean Nudell has always made time to hear my concerns, offer advice and provide assistance. Her support has helped me find my footing as a leader and has made a world of difference for countless other engineering students.

CSU: How has Cleveland State inspired you for your future?

AS: CSU has given me unique opportunities to serve my peers and develop my leadership skills. As the coordinator of the EPT program, I selected, trained and supported more than 22 peer teachers, an experience that's inspired me to lead others and seek similar roles in my career. Additionally, I serve as the secretary for the Student Government Association, where I provide administrative support for SGA operations and currently work to facilitate a transition to a new administration.

These opportunities to lead inspired my decision to pursue a Master of Science in Information Security Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University, where I can integrate my on-campus leadership experience with the technical skills gained from my internships.

CSU: How do you think you have fulfilled the CSU’s mission?  

AS: CSU strives to "equip learners with knowledge and future-ready skills." Through my work at the Washkewicz College of Engineering, I've had the opportunity to assist in this core tenet of the university's mission, whether by directly assisting students myself or empowering those who do.

CSU: Do you have a career lined up, and how has CSU been instrumental in that process?

AS: After completing my master's degree, I intend to launch my career at the FBI, where I can serve my country and help safeguard our nation against rapidly evolving threats.

This was only possible thanks to CSU's Career Development & Exploration Office, which organized a panel with FBI representatives. This event allowed me to speak directly with recruiters and learn more about a career in federal law enforcement. I'm grateful to CSU for the opportunity to explore this unique career field and look forward to further developing my career as I attend graduate school.
