Cleveland State University Levin College Ranked Third in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report

Cleveland State University (CSU) graduate programs are among the nation’s best, according to the newly released U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings.  

The CSU Levin College of Public Affairs and Education earned national recognition, with its urban policy program placing No. 3 in the country, making it the highest‑ranked program of its kind in Ohio. Levin also ranked No. 10 nationally and first in Ohio for local government management, and the new public management and leadership specialty also received national recognition. 

“This recognition signals national confidence in the strength and impact of our academic programs,” said Dr. Jill Gordon, dean of the CSU Levin College of Public Affairs and Education. “Guided by faculty committed to real‑world learning, Levin students graduate prepared to lead. This preparation is evident in the contribution of alumni across our region.” 

The University’s other colleges also received strong rankings, with their graduate programs placing among the top programs at public universities in Ohio.  

  • CSU College of Law ranked in the top five across all 12 specialty areas, and the criminal law program is among the top 100 nationally.
  • The occupational therapy program in the College of Health placed No. 2 in Ohio. The college ranked No. 4 for physical therapy and social work, and is in the top 10 for speech-language pathology.
  • The Monte Ahuja College of Business ranked in the top 10 for all 10 specialty areas and the part-time MBA program.
  • Five specialty areas in the Washkewicz College of Engineering’s — biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering — also placed in the top 10.
  • The chemistry program in the College of Arts and Sciences earned a top 10 recognition. 

Earlier this year, CSU was also recognized among public universities in Ohio across numerous categories, including the best colleges rankings, social mobility and online programs rankings. CSU ranked No. 8 among public Ohio institutions for Best College and No. 2 for social mobility. The undergraduate programs in business, nursing, engineering and computer science all placed in the top 10 in the state. Additionally, the online bachelor’s in business in the Monte Ahuja College of Business ranks No. 3 in Ohio.
