Ceremony will follow all SAFE at Progressive Field protocols and limit guests to
ensure safety of all attendees
CLEVELAND (March 3, 2021) – Cleveland State University is thrilled to announce that its Spring 2021 graduates will be able to celebrate their commencment in-person at Progressive Field, the outdoor ballpark of the Cleveland Indians. Commencement will be Saturday, May 15.
The event is possible due to the great work of the CSU community to stick to its health protocols and build the collective confidence that an in-person gathering can be done safely. The university is also grateful for the cooperation and hard work of staff at Progressive Field and the Cleveland Indians for opening their home to us.
“I can’t think of a more appropriate event to begin our pathway back to a ‘new normal,’ where we can celebrate in-person after a year in which the pandemic pushed us away from personal contact and social norms,” said CSU president Harlan M. Sands. “I am particularly grateful for the hard work of our CSU pandemic response team, which has helped drive our reputation as a leader in its pandemic response.”
Commencement will be held in two separate ceremonies, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, to provide for proper social distancing among attendees. Guests will be limited.
CSU commencement will ensure to follow all SAFE at Progressive Field protocols that are currently in effect for bringing fans back into the ballpark.
Commencement will be held rain or shine. Details are being finalized and will be shared when available. In addition, updates can be found on CSU’s commencement webpages and social media.
