Academic Advisor Deborah Brown Honored for 50 Years of Service at CSU
Cleveland State University staff members were recently honored for their service at a ceremony that took place at the Glasscock Family Foundation Ballroom.
Academic Advisor in the Monte Ahuja College of Business Deborah Brown was honored for five decades of service at CSU.
Brown was unable to attend due to illness.
“Knowing Deb as both a colleague and as an advisor has been a blessing. Deb is kind, caring, resilient, and a role model,” said Heather Schlosser of University Marketing. “Speaking as a former student, Deb has supported many of us in our academic and professional careers—wherever they may have taken us—and she does not give up on you, even when you might want to give up on yourself.”
In 2007, Brown received the Distinguished Academic Advisor Award from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). Prior to serving as a graduate business advisor, Deb was a student services specialist in All-in-One, worked in Enrollment Services, served as assistant director of admissions in the College of Graduate Studies, and was an academic advisor and undergraduate programs coordinator in the former Maxine Goodman Levin College, now the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education.
Brown is also a two-time Cleveland State University alumna, earning both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Public Administration degree.
“Deb has made a significant impact on the students she has worked with, as well as many more through the advisors, faculty, and staff she has worked with over the years,” added Schlosser.
Brown was a guest on Cleveland State University’s official podcast, Viking Voices, where she discussed her time as a CSU student and employee.
