ISTFest - Hackathon

Overview

The intent of the ISTFest hackathon is to generate creative problem solving. 

These do not have to involve technology.

  • Projects should have a clear question or problem they are trying to solve plus a reasonably specific proposed solution.

  • Most projects will accomplish about 25% of what they think they can accomplish in the limited time they have.

  • Projects should have ready-to-go tasks for newcomers with a variety of skills and at a variety of skill levels.

 

2-August-2019

The first ISTFest was held on August 2, 2019. Three projects were worked on.

  1. A working prototype was created in PeopleSoft that holds the security record keeping system. This will replace the Access database used previously.
  2. A group of PeopleSoft developers and analysts added 3 new PeopleSoft Test Framework users. This will enable these users to utilize automated testing tools in the future. As PeopleSoft releases updates more often, the need to test will increase. Having automated testing will reduce the need for manual testing by humans.
  3. A third group created a dashboard of web analytics information from existing Google Analytics data. This new dashboard will allow CSU website owners the ability to query information about their sites without having to have a separate Google login or IS&T having to create a unique report for each site.
