University Architect

FH Renovation

Scope of Work:  The Fenn College of Engineering at Cleveland State University is developing a new model for engineering education which demands up-to-date learning environments in laboratories, classrooms, student spaces, circulation, support, and public spaces. The college is housed in Fenn Hall, a structure built in 1924 as the Ohio Motors building and renovated in the 1950’s as part of Fenn College the predecessor to CSU.  The upgrade will necessitate a major renovation encompassing interior and exterior refurbishments, including additions and utility extensions and/or improvements including but not limited to, steam, water, gas and electrical systems.

Exterior renovations will include the restoration and re-supporting of the failing existing stone skin on the east façade; replacement of existing windows/curtain wall systems on the east facade; new north entry and façade on Chester Avenue; roof replacement on lower roofs; and site work that ties into the surrounding campus walks and integrates the new entries and perimeter work.

Project Cost: $23.4 M
