Deepen your understanding of mental health counseling through a comprehensive curriculum that covers diverse areas such as cultural foundations, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. Practice your skills with ample opportunities for hands-on training through a clinical mental health counseling practicum and internships.

Prepare to meet the diverse needs of children aged 0-6, including those with disabilities and developmental delays, and families facing social and emotional challenges. Deliver positive interventions or provide supervision within supportive settings. The certificate consists of 16 credit hours.

As part of the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing consortium, this program offers a unique collaborative experience between Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Youngstown State University and the University of Akron. Choose from concentrations in fiction, creative nonfiction, playwriting and poetry, and benefit from a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes professional writing techniques and literary analysis. Gain practical experience through internships in various fields, including teaching, editing, grant writing, arts marketing and arts administration.

Criminology and Journalism, BA
Criminology and Journalism, BA

Format: On Campus

With a clear parallel between the work of the investigative journalist and the criminologist, a combination of classes in the two fields provides students both the knowledge about longstanding societal problems and the skills to do something about them, and robust opportunities for immediate employment or graduate training. This degree brings together the analytic and public policy-oriented study of crime and its related fields, with the communication-oriented theory, history and skills of journalism.
