CSU Alumni Association Honored by CASE for Outstanding Programs and Publications

The Cleveland State University Alumni Association will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the upcoming Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District V Conference in December for outstanding programs and publications.

The Alumni Association will receive the Gold Award for the Best Collaborative Program for Be Amazing…The Women’s Leadership Symposium. In its second year, the women’s leadership program attracted 800 alumnae and students for a day of informative and inspiring lectures, breakout sessions, and panels covering important areas of interest to women.

“The event has quickly become one of our most popular and thought-provoking experiences,” said Brian Breittholz, assistant vice president for alumni relations.

The program was organized in collaboration with CSU’s Division of Student Affairs along with the Ohio University Alumni Association headquartered in Athens, OH. According to Breittholz, “CSU and OU both have extraordinary women leaders in northeast Ohio and we believed by combining efforts we could have a profound impact on the community and both of our institutions.”

In addition to the Best Collaborative Program, the symposium will receive the Bronze Award under the category of Best New Alumni Program.

The Association will also receive the Silver Award for Best Electronic Newsletter. Viking Pride is the monthly e-newsletter produced for CSU alumni throughout the world. It was developed three years ago and provides extensive information and engaging stories about the University, the Association, its alumni and CSU students.

“We believe Viking Pride is an important tool for our alumni to keep abreast of the ongoing progress and achievements at CSU while also focusing on the unique stories of our incredible alumni and students,” Breittholz said.

Viking Pride was the only alumni electronic newsletter recognized by CASE District V.

This year 400 award entries from 80 institutions were submitted. CASE District V encompasses Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin and includes 400-plus member institutions and more than 2,500 representatives. Cleveland State’s Alumni Association was the only honoree in Northeast Ohio this year.

The Cleveland State University Alumni Association represents over 120,000 alumni with close to 80 percent of alumni residing in the northeast Ohio region. The association is led by a volunteer board of 30 alumni.
