What does the VMSC have happening this semester? Below is a list of some of the important dates and speakers scheduled.

March 2021 

In March we are highlighting women veterans right here at CSU and our surrounding community. 

  • Tuesday, March 9th
    Veteran Issues 101 with Rick DeChant - 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

    If you don’t know, Rick DeChant is a member of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame and does an extraordinary amount for local and state veterans. He joins us to discuss some of the primary issues that affect veterans and how to approach and successfully overcome them.  
     
  • Tuesday, March 16th 
    VA Benefits & Disability with Jacob Drost of the Disabled Veterans of America - 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

    What the DAV is and how they support the local veteran population here in Cleveland. 


April 2021 

April is dedicated to employment success, networking, resume building and everything else job search related. Including, how to remain resilient when times are difficult. 

  • Tuesday, April 6th 
    Getting Job ready with Karen Lieske of CSU’s Career Services - 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

    Together we are going to cover resumes, cover letters and networking skills with a specific focus on the veteran population. 
     
  • Tuesday, April 16th
    Resiliency for Veterans with Duncan Kirkwood - 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

    As an author, veteran, and Master Resiliency Trainer, Duncan provides powerful messages and tangible tools to build strong resilience, self love, grit and an understanding of how to avoid thinking traps 
     
  • Tuesday, April 20th
    Employment Services for Veterans with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) - 11:30 AM – 12:30.

    ​​​​​​​We will talk about how Ohio supports veterans in the job search and provides veteran exclusive programs to get job ready and transition successfully.
