Event: Student Forum on Source of Income Discrimination in Cuyahoga County
Urban Building, Bonda Room (UR 254)
Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 6:00 pm
"No Section 8" is a common phrase in apartment postings, telling prospective tenants that the landlord will not accept their housing choice vouchers. Discriminating against an otherwise-qualified tenant solely because the tenant receives a housing voucher or other form of income is known as source of income discrimination.
We will be discussing the causes and effects of Source of Income Discrimination. Twelve student-researchers conducted four in-depth studies on Source of Income Discrimination, and will be sharing their results and discussing possible policy responses. The research took place as part of UST 893/693, an Applied Research course, for Urban graduate students. The course was co-taught by Professors Megan Hatch and Joseph Mead.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available. No RSVP is required.
