George started his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter/EMT-B at the Mecca Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1987. He moved on to a part-paid position as a firefighter/EMT-A at the Lordstown Fire Dept. in 1989. He then was sworn in as a full time firefighter only at the Alliance Fire Dept. later in 1989. He made his last move to the Shaker Heights Fire Dept. (SHFD) in 1996 where he acquired his paramedic, fire instructor, confined space rescue, and hazardous material technician certifications. He is currently employed at the SHFD and teaches Firefighter I & II & AHA CPR/First Aid for the Howland Township Training Center. Here at the Center for Emergency Preparedness, George oversees all training functions, scheduling of classes and programs, keeps track of all training equipment and ancillary devices, and ensures training compliance in according to national recognized Best Practices.
