Title: Client Services Intern

Assist in the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s efforts to connect our neighbors to the food they need every day.

Title: Intern
Company: Rocky River Waste Water Treatment Plant

The goal of the internship position is to assist the Rocky River Wastewater Treatment Plant fulfill its NPDES industrial pretreatment requirements. The intern will work with the pretreatment coordinator and Superintendent to assist in identifying potential sources of industrial wastewater contribution, mercury contributors, Fats Oils and Greases, and any other applicable waste stream. He/She will be trained to inspect some of the locations in four cities for pollutant minimization program compliance and will eventually travel throughout the four cities to document that compliance. Title: Research and Data Intern
Company: Jumpstart

The Research and Data intern will work closely with JumpStart’s Data Analyst and Entrepreneurial Services Program team to support data driven evaluations of its programs, especially the ESP, specifically through in-depth reviews of current data and reports. This project will provide the intern a unique opportunity to better understand database structuring, learn the SQL and R programming languages, create data visualizations, and get an introduction into grant reporting. In addition, the intern will be expected to be intellectually curious in their approach to internal and external data. This position is for a full year for 16 to 20 hours per week.

  • Assist with collection of outcome metrics for JumpStart programs. This will include creating and reviewing surveys in Qualtrics as well as engaging with key stakeholders to ensure consistent and complete tracking of data.
  • Assist with the evaluation of reporting metrics for JumpStart programs. This will include reviewing reports of data before they are sent to JumpStart staff and key stakeholders as well as assisting in the creation of visualizations of data using Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, and R.

Title: Geographic Information Services (GIS) Intern - Summer, 2018
Company: Western Reserve Land Conservancy

The GIS Intern will be responsible for interpreting and digitizing a large amount of data related to the Land Conservancy's Land Cover Database, including developed areas, natural habitats, and agricultural lands. The GIS Intern will also complete a geodatabase of special reserved areas or zones that have been identified on the Land Conservancy’s protected properties like building areas, habitat management areas, and stream buffer zones. The project may also include using a program called Step-L to calculate how each protected property helps maintain water quality in the region by avoiding excess nutrient and sediment deposition into waterways. This project is important to the Land Conservancy’s Conservation Team because the data can be used to summarize the positive impact of our conservation work.

The Planning/GIS Intern will be involved in planning, development, and engineering projects throughout the summer months. Primary duties will include creating and manipulating GIS layers for a partner government agency and processing zoning applications for fences, sheds, minor site plans, etc. The Intern will also assist in deploying and managing the City’s traffic counting program. Other internship duties may include presentation graphics, writing reports, and participating in land use planning activities. The position requires basic-to-intermediate knowledge of GIS Software. Strong written and oral communication skills, and a commitment to the values and expectations of public service, are also required.
 
The GIS intern will work a flexible schedule (up to 32 hours/week) for 13 weeks. Students working on a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in GIS, planning, or a related field are eligible to apply for consideration and should do so as soon as possible. The pay rate for this position is $12.00 per hour. For non-local candidates, summer housing is available nearby at the University of Dayton and Wright State University.
