Welcome to Spring Semester! Chillfest is January 18 through January 23 at Cleveland State University. Below is a calendar listing of the variety of events planned for the week!

We encourage you to take full advantage of what this week has to offer to become an engaged student at CSU!!

Tuesday, January 18
Cleveland State University will be closed on Tuesday, January 18 due to inclement weather. All classes are canceled for the day and business offices will be closed. 

Instagram Trivia Tuesday, All Day, Student Life Instagram  
Follow Student Life's Instagram account (@clestatestudentlife) and join them for Trivia Tuesday! Those who answer correctly are entered for a chance to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card. The more answers you get correct, the more chances you have to win! Winners will be notified Wednesday via Instagram Direct Message. 

CSU/Tri-C Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual Celebration, Online 8:30 a.m. 
All are welcome for the virtual 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in partnership with Cuyahoga Community College. Featuring student essay contest winners and special emcee Clarence Bozeman, who served as the driver for Dr. King and his family between 1958 and 1960.  Mark your calendars to join the event live at https://csuohio.us/31sTUlw

Lost? Have questions? Stop by our welcome table in the Student Center or Berkman Hall Atrium and get directions, free givaways, hand sanitizer, information, and more or get answers to your questions.

U-Pass Distribution SC Pop-Up on Innerlink, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Stop by the Student Center in the Inner Link Pop-up Lounge to pick up your RTA U-Pass. Students must be registered for spring classes and bring your CSU Viking ID Card. They will also be at this location until February 11, 2022.

Bingo for Books, SC Atrium NOON – 1:00 p.m.
The Center for Student Involvement is partnering with the Viking Outfitters (Bookstore) to play Bingo! There’s Viking Outfitters gift cards and other prizes! Make sure to bring your CSU ID card when you sign in.

Thursday, January 20

Information Systems Team Lab Opening BU 004B (Lower Level), 9:00 a.m.
Please join the Monte Ahuja College of Business for the opening of their new Information Systems Team Lab. Located on the Lower Level within the Monte Ahuja College of Business, the Information Systems Team Lab will provide Cleveland State University students a dynamic area to collaborate in large and small groups as well as practice and perfect their skills in data science, business analytics and programming/coding. They will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 AM and then open house from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Refreshments will be served. All students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome.

Spring Student Organization Fair!  SC Atrium, 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. 
The Student Organization Fair is an interactive fair for you to find out information about and make connections with Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) that align with your interests. Come join the Center for Student Involvement as they offer a student organization fair in the SC Atrium! This is your opportunity to engage with fellow Vikings and join a student organization! Becoming a member of an RSO will also help you build lifelong friendships and enhance your academic experience. If you bring your CSU ID card, stop by Student Life's table to swipe in and be entered for a $100 Amazon gift card! 

Cookies and Cocoa Inner Link, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Join CSU’s Young Alumni Council (YAC) and 1964 Society student organization for cookies and cocoa in the Inner Link! YAC and 1964 Society would like to welcome all CSU students as they continue their journey to becoming Viking alumni!

Campus-Wide Celebration of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Zoom, 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Panelists from Cleveland State University will include Sonali B. Wilson, Esq., General Council; Tara Y. White, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of History, University of North Carolina Wilmington; and Eric Siler, M.F.A., Instructor, Film and Media Arts. Esquire Wilson will discuss personal memories of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s visits to Cleveland and engagements with her family. Dr. Tara Y. White will establish a historical context for a discussion highlighting scenes from the movie Selma, while Instructor Siler will draw on other collective memories established through the film. Prester Pickett, M.F.A., Coordinator, Howard A. Mims African American Cultural Center will serve as the moderator.
