The project is scheduled for May 29 – August 4, 2017 with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
The 10-week summer program is seeking sophomore and junior Physics and Engineering majors for interdisciplinary research projects in soft matter science/engineering. Soft matter is a group of materials that includes liquids, colloids, polymers and gels. Researchers combine physics, chemistry, biology and engineering to study their unique properties and applications - from liquids used for transport or direct assembly of materials to polymers for electronic or mechanical applications and biomaterials for healing.
Undergraduate researchers will work directly with faculty advisor
s from CSU Physics or Chemical & Biomedical Engineering to make meaningful contributions to authentic research project
s. Research experiences will be supplemented with scientific and professional development seminars, presentation opportunities and social activities in greater Cleveland
CSU is committed to undergraduate research, scholarship and community participation, and was designated an Engaged Institution by the Carnegie Foundation in 2015. REU students will benefit from a culture that embraces Engaged Learning through one-on-one mentoring from experienced faculty and a robust network of student researchers across Northeast Ohio.
Review of applications begins March 20, 2017
